The Lake Tapps Resistance League, aka LTRL, is one of the first 350 Indivisibles formed in the country, registered on the day that MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow first interviewed co-founder Ezra Levin about his newly formed grassroots manual for resistance. The first version of the online Indivisible Guide was a messy googledocs that was hard to read, but full of practical information on how to fight back effectively. Game on!
What began 5 months ago as a bi-weekly “wine/coffee klatch” with other horrified progressives post-election, has grown into a dynamic, passionate group of progressive patriots of all ‘stripes’ –ready to Rally against Trump and Stand Indivisible together in the rain in Bonney Lake traffic on 410.
LTRL members have rallied in marches from large to local; from DAPL to March for Science. Some members are regular protesters for ‘Resist Trump Tuesdays’ in Seattle. Others are meeting with Representative Reichert and staff on regular basis. Many are daily phone-callers to Rep Reichert’s offices in Issaquah & DC. If you have time to call your elected Member of Congress, meet with their staff, protest at local marches, or add your specific skills and energy to our subcommittees, we welcome you to The Resistance!
This is DIY Democracy. Our group does not endorse any candidate; we are providing information for our local voting districts. No Dues. No Trolls. No Guilt for missing meetings. Come when you can. Participate as you are able. And bring a friend! #NotMyPresidentEver
How we are organizing
Our Indivisible group is getting organized! The Lake Tapps Resistance League is about enabling you to practice democracy in a way that suits your strengths, talents and interests. Here are the ways that our members are organizing around our shared goal: resisting the Trump administration.
PUBLIC RELATIONS:
Committee is tasked with the work of assisting our Indivisible group with communications that might be consumed outside our group. For example, reporting on meetings, press releases regarding events, and our group’s letters of concerns to our Members of Congress might fall within this group. If you have a writing or marketing background, this group might be for you.
INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS:
The rate at which news spreads out of this administration is unprecedented and keeping up with the current news cycle is a real challenge. The Internal Communications and Research committee will be tracking national and local news and providing us with links to the information that we need to stay informed. If you have your pulse on the news cycle through credible news outlets, this group could use your help.
LIAISON:
This committee has the responsibility of tracking the activity of our neighboring IGs in and making sure that our group has the information that it needs to coordinate our efforts to defeat Rep. Reichert in the next election. If you would like to focus your attention on repealing and replacing Reichert, this might be the committee for you.
TECHNOLOGY:
This committee is responsible for exploring the technology that can be used to meet our group’s goals. Through the use of mobile apps, social media, and other technological innovation, resisting the Trump agenda, will in part depend on our ability to utilize available technology to share data and communicate. If you tend to be an early-adopter of the latest and greatest tech, this group could use your help.
EVENTS:
There are events that are happening across our region to resist Trump and his agenda. From protests, to organizational meetings, the Events Committee is here to keep us informed of the events taking place and how to be a part of them. This group might also organize carpools, as well as support for sign-making, etc.
